ప్రపంచంలో అతిపొడవైన ఎలక్ట్రిక్‌ హైవే - Australia to get a 2,000 km long superhighway with fast-charging stations for electric cars

One of the world's longest highways for electric cars is about to be built in Queensland, Australia. Plans unveiled by the state have shown the Electric Super Highway to be around 2,000 kilometers long and stretching from the Gold coast on the state's south side to Cairns in the far north.
The entire highway will be laden with fast-charging stations so that the electric car never runs out of charge. Phase one of the project will cover 18 towns and cities in the state. Queensland's acting roads minister said in a statement "This project is ambitious, but we want as many people as possible on board the electric vehicle revolution as part of our transition to a low emissions future. They will be available for use at no cost for the initial phase of the super highway so we can encourage as many people as possible to start using them".

The minister also said that the energy supplied to the fast charging station would be entirely green energy purchased from green energy credits.

Australia already has a cluster of fast charging stations in the RAC Electric Highway in western Australia which connects major cities like Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. However, there is a minority of fast-charging stations that can power up a vehicle in less than 30 minutes.

Queensland, with a population of almost 5 million, has less than 1,000 electric cars at the moment according to electrek.co. However, the state government hopes this new highway can persuade people to buy more electric vehicles and switch to green energy.
