Cognizant give's Shock to their employees-Cognizant - Cognizant is an American multinational corporation - Cognizant Software development company - Cognizant Teaneck,New Jersey,United States - Latest from Cognizant

Cognizant Postpones employees Salary hikes, promotions for three months
US based software giant, Cognizant has deferred salary hikes and promotions for three months, the Economic Times reported. The decision comes amid the ongoing stress in the IT industry and visa limitations by the Donald Trump-led government in US.
Appraisals are usually announced in June every year, so the delay has come as a shock for Cognizant's employees.
In an email sent to employees from Jim Lennox, CTS's chief people officer, said revisions and promotions will be effective from October 1, ET reported.
The company's chief people officer, Jim Lennox, in a note to the staff said employees up to the manager level would receive "a percentage increase in their basic pay like previous years, while people at senior manager and above level would get a 'lump sum' amount. This apart, they will get performance-linked bonuses."
For employees up to the level of vice president, according to the note, the new salaries would be effective from October 1.
The US headquartered firm, currently, has 2,61,200 employees across the world.
Cognizant President Rajeev Mehta Writes to employees

To address concerns of regarding reports of massive layoffs, Cognizant  President Rajeev Mehta has written to employees of the company.
According to ET Now, Mehta in an email told the employees that Cognizant has not done any layoffs. "Each year, in line with industry best practices, we conduct performance reviews to reflect on the work of last year and ensure goals for the subsequent year are clear. We are being committed to being a meritocracy. We believe that's good for all associates around the world."
The IT company also denied speculations that such measures are being undertaken to allow more hiring in the US. "We continue to hire in local markets around the world. We have been ramping up our recruiting efforts in US for a number of years and will continue to do so while hiring in most other parts of the world including India," the letter said.
The US-headquartered IT firm had earlier offered its top executives - directors, associate VPs and senior VPs - a voluntary separation package, a part of its plan to shift operations to automation and digital technology.
The IT major did not disclose the number of people that have been offered this option but indicated that it represents a very small percentage of its workforce.
Cognizant President Rajeev Mehta had said the company expects to significantly ramp up its US-based workforce by hiring experienced professionals in the open market as well as make more use of university, veteran, and related programmes.
While the company is hiring more locals, it is also consciously reducing its dependence on H-1B visas. Cognizant expects its visa requirements to go down further going forward.
Trump administration had accused Cognizant, along with its Indian counterparts Infosys and TCS, of unfairly cornering the lion's share of America's H-1B work visas.
Cognizant employs over 2,62,000 people globally of which over 1,50,000 are in India.

New 200/- rupees Note - RBI - Printing of RS 200 Currency Notes- Where Indian Currency Notes Printed - You Need To Know All About It-Latest From RBI - Latest Indian Currency- INDIAN ECONOMY -INDIAN CURRENCY

India's re-monetisation exercise appears to be entering its final lap, with the central bank beginning to print bills of 200 rupees – perhaps for the first time – to help ease consumer transactions.Govt. of India has confirmed that Rs 200 currency note is, in fact, a reality, and indications are strong that the currency will hit the market very soon.
The notes of Rs 200 denomination are being printed in one of the government-owned facilities after the Reserve Bank of India RBI placed an order a few weeks ago for the bills, two people familiar with the matter told ET.
An email sent to the RBI seeking its comments could not elicit any response until the publication of this report.
As per confirmed reports coming in, it has been revealed that printing of Rs 200 currency notes has started in full swing.
This is for the first time that a denomination of Rs 200 currency note would be introduced in India.
This is being hailed as a major step towards ‘remonetization’ after demonetization kicked in last November, when Govt. pulled out Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes from the market.
With Rs 200 currency note, these are the denominations of currencies which would be available in India:
Re 1, Rs 2, Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200 and Rs 2000.
The biggest reason why Rs 200 currency has been introduced is the gap between Rs 500 and Rs 2000.
Due to demonetization, currencies worth Rs 15.44 lakh crore was sucked out of the system. Approximately 1,650 crore pieces of Rs 500 notes were demonetized all of a sudden, and it created chaos.
Rs 8.58 lakh crore worth of Rs 500 notes and Rs 6.86 lakh crore in Rs 1,000 were demonetized.
Rs 200 currency has been planned to bridge this gap.
An official said in the month of April, “People are still reluctant to take Rs 2000 and therefore there is still a shortage of currency notes and the need is to have lower denomination notes,”
Chief economist at the SBI Group, Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Said , “For day-to-day transaction purposes, the introduction of 200 rupee notes will add to the ease of operations..”, adding, “The introduction of 200 rupee notes will replenish the missing middle, triggered by the withdrawal of the old series of 500 rupee notes.”
The printing of currency notes is done either in printing units run by the government-run Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd or at printing presses in Mysore (Karnataka) and Salboni (West Bengal), managed by the RBI-owned
The introduction of the Rs-200 currency notes predates the federal government’s decision to overnight withdraw bills of higher denomination in November as part of a broader exercise to stop counterfeiting and curbing untaxed cash in Asia’s third-biggest economy.

The RBI board had earlier cleared the proposal to issue banknotes of Rs 200 denomination. The government, too, had examined the introduction of the new notes that would help citizens transact easily.

NEW TOOLS IN MESSENGER APPLICATION - WATCH HERE GIF'S, HOW NEW TOOLS WORK-FACEBOOK ADDS NEW TOOLS TO MESSENGER APPLICATION-FACEBOOK-LATEST FROM FACEBOOK

While Facebook Messenger users have been able to conduct video chats via the app since 2015, Facebook only added group video chats last December, providing a new way for people to use the platform to connect. And now, Facebook’s looking to give Messenger video chats a boost, adding a range of new filters and effects to help spice up your Messenger video conversations.

 NEW TOOLS

ANIMATED EMOJI RESPONSES
First off, Facebook’s added new animated emoji responses, which you can activate by tapping the ‘thumbs up’ icon at the bottom of your Messenger video screen.

“Choose one of the five Messenger emoji icons to amplify your emotions and express love, laughter, surprise, sadness or anger. These reactions will animate onto the screen and then disappear, so you can express yourself in the moment.” The reactions also function in different ways – when the camera is facing you, you’ll get one variation, but when you’re not on screen, an alternate response will be shown. This is similar to Snapchat’s World Lenses, with many Lenses now available in front or outward facing mode.

MOOD FILTERS
Video filters have been available in Messenger since last year, but Facebook’s now adding even more visual tools to help enhance your video chats.

Facebook says the new color filters will help users better express their mood – while a great addition here is a preview, which will enable you to see what you look like with the filter applied before using it, via the picture-in-picture window down the bottom of the screen.

NEW MASKS
Facebook’s also adding to their collection of Snapchat-style video masks (which can also be used in group video chats), while they’ll also include more of Facebook’s ‘reactive tools’ which respond to movement of your hands on screen.
Capture the momemt
And the last new addition for Messenger video chats is the ability to easily take screenshots, with a new camera icon added to the function bar.
Group video chats have proven to be a popular option, with group live-streaming app house party quickly racing to 1.2 million users  late last year. This new photo feature, in particular, seems aligned to that trend, enabling Messenger group chatters to share images of the fun they’re having, which may trigger others to get involved.
Video masks and effects have become a great way to encourage engagement – according to sanp incs's data  a third of their 166 million daily active users “play with Lenses everyday”. Lenses have also played a key part in helping spread the word about Snapchat, with users showing their friends what they look like, who then show their friends, etc. Facebook clearly sees this as a key trend – back in April, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Facebook’s new camera effects platform  which will enable external developers to build all kinds of AR experiences, including video masks and effects. By opening up such options to outside creators, Facebook’s looking to make itself the key platform for such tools – rather than relying on the creative skills of their own team, now, their creative team is everyone, a move which could give them a leg up on Snap Inc.

Sridevi's New film Mom, which has music by A.R.Rahman has been certified with a U/A certificate, and the film is gearing up for its release on 7th July. Reportedly, the censor board has appreciated the ace actress for her phenomenal performance.

-->the Central Board of Film Certification has granted U/A certificate to ‘MOM’. Apparently the authorities are highly impressed with Sridevi’s performance, and they have compared her character to that of Nargis’ from ‘Mother India.’
“Srideviji’s performance in ‘MOM’ has the same impact as Nargisji in ‘Mother India’. They both define motherhood and the ingrained sacrifices that a mother makes for a child. I’d go as far as to say Mom is the contemporary ‘Mother India’. There will not be one dry eye in the theatres when the film opens”, said Pahlaj Nihalani to a daily.

Redmi 4A

Xiaomi VP and India MD Manu Kumar Jain on Tuesday announced that the company has sold over 10 lakh units of the Redmi 4 phone in the country in 1 month since launch. The Redmi 4, in fact, beat the Redmi Note 4, that achieved the same sales figure in 45 days, Manu added.
The Redmi 4 was launched in India in mid-May at a starting price of Rs 6,999 for the 2GB RAM and 16GB memory version going all the way to Rs 10,999 for the top end 4GB RAM and 64GB memory version. The Redmi 4 is also available in 3GB RAM and 32GB memory version for Rs 8,999.
Much like the Redmi 3S before it, the Redmi 4 also brings in some hard-to-get hardware specs at some rock-bottom prices. You can say that the Redmi 3S is Xiaomi's best-selling phone ever as the company has already claimed of selling over 40 lakh units of the Redmi 3S phone in the country in 9 months. The Redmi 4, it seems, is headed in the same direction.
The Redmi 4 comes with an all-metal body and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone, in fact, looks a lot like the Redmi Note 4, with smaller bezels. It comes with curved 2.5D glass on the front and is also available in matte black finish and gold colour options like the Redmi Note 4.
It comes with a 5-inch 720p display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor under the hood. The Redmi 4 is smoother and more thermal efficient than Lenovo's Moto G5, according to Xiaomi.
The Redmi 4 further sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
On the software side, the Redmi 4 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI. The phone will be eligible for Android Nougat preview out-of-the-box. Furthermore, the phone is backed by a 4,100mAh battery. The phone supports 4G LTE and is also VoLTE-ready.
The Redmi 4 comes at a time when Xiaomi is slowly and steadily ramping up its sales strategy in the country. In a bid to give its offline ambitions a boost, Xiaomi opened its first Mi Home store in India recently. Xiaomi's first Mi Home store in India, which is located in Bengaluru, is a one stop shop for anything and everything that the Chinese company sells in India.
The company, in addition, is also looking to open Mi Home stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai in the days to come. In fact, it plans to open as many as 100 Mi Homes in the country in the next two years.
Since Manu hasn't given any specifics, it seems, he is talking about all-inclusive sales figures, meaning all Redmi 4 units sold across the board including Amazon India, Mi.com/in and the Mi Home.

INDIAN PRIME MINISTER LATEST-MODI US TOUR- TRUMP AND MODI MEETING HIGHLIGHTS-HIGHLIGHTS OF MODI LATEST US TOUR-ELIMINATING TERRORISM-MODI & TRUMP FRIENDSHIP

ELIMINATING TERRORISM

WASHINGTON:  At their first ever meeting today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump struck a common note on terrorism, saying eliminating it is among the top-most priorities for the two nations. In a joint briefing with President Trump after a one-on-one meeting and delegation-level talks at the White House, PM Modi said "We talked about terrorism, extremism and radicalisation and agreed to cooperate on this." Ahead of the meeting, the US State Department had declared Syed Salahuddin, chief of terror group Hizbul Mujahideen, a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in a move that India called a vindication of its stand against cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

NARENDRA MODI HAIL FRIENDSHIP AT FIRST TALKS

US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi embraced each other as friends and partners Monday, pledging that their quest for economic growth would strengthen, rather than undermine, ties between the world's two largest democracies.

While Trump's relations with some traditional allies have got off to rocky start, he and Modi appeared to strike up an immediate rapport in their first meeting, with the pair exchanging hugs in the White House Rose Garden in front of reporters.

Any differences over issues such as immigration and climate change were kept behind closed doors and they instead vowed to work more closely on issues such as combatting terrorism, the war in Afghanistan and defense cooperation.

While there were no announcements of major deals, Trump's administration confirmed it had given the green light to the $366 million sale of a transport carrier to India while the purchase of around 20 drones by India's military was also approved.

"I would say the relationship between India and the United States has never been stronger, has never been better," Trump told a beaming Modi as they made statements.

"I look forward to working with you, Mr. Prime Minister, to create jobs in our countries, to grow our economies and to create a trading relationship that is fair and reciprocal," he said.
After Trump said it was "important that barriers be removed to the export of US goods into your markets and that we reduce our trade deficit with your country", Modi said that his country was becoming an easier place for American companies to do business.

"We consider the United States as our primary partner in India's socio-economic transformation in all our flagship programs and schemes," said the Indian leader.

"I'm sure that convergence between my vision for a new India and President Trump's vision for 'Making America Great Again' will add a new dimension to our cooperation," added Modi in reference to Trump's signature campaign slogan.

"I am very clear about the fact that India's interests lie in a strong, prosperous, and successful America."

Commentators had predicted that Trump and Modi would find much in common, with both men having won power by portraying themselves as establishment outsiders.

Both men are prolific users of social media, something Trump joked about with his guest.

"We're believers, giving the people ... the opportunity to hear directly from their elected officials and for us to hear directly from them," said Trump.

Modi in turn made Trump beam by hailing his reputation as deal maker from his time as property tycoon.

"I'm sure that under your leadership our mutually beneficial strategic partnership will gain new strength ... and that your vast and successful experience in the business world will lend an aggressive and bold agenda  to our relations."

While ties with some traditional allies have been strained by Trump's complaints that Washington has been the loser in trade agreements, Modi appears alert to his host's sensitivities and emphasis on transactional diplomacy.

India is currently the world's fastest growing major economy, a status that Modi is hoping to cement by drawing in more foreign investment -- in part by encouraging manufacturers to do business in Asia's third-largest economy.

Ahead of his talks witH Trump, Modi met with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

The State Department later announced that it was slapping sanctions on a senior figure in the Kashmiri separatist group Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.

The designation of Syed Salahuddin (also known as Mohammed Yusuf Shah) as a global terrorist marks a diplomatic victory for India which has been battling a decades-long insurgency by separatist groups in Kashmir, a Himalayan region divided between India and Pakistan and claimed in full by both.

Relations between India and the US were generally cool until the 1990s but they warmed under Trump's predecessor Barack Obama, as India sought greater foreign investment and trade ties.

But it was not long after Trump's election that obstacles emerged on issues such as trade and visas for Indians wanting to work in the United States.

Then Trump accused India of seeking to profit from the Paris climate accord as he announced the US withdrawal from the deal this month -- drawing sharp denials from New Delhi.

A proposed overhaul of H-1B visas -- used by thousands of Indian software engineers to work in the United States -- has caused concern in New Delhi.

But Indian officials have played down those differences, insisting that Modi was sensitive to his counterpart's concerns over American jobs and trade.

Regional security did feature in the talks, including on Afghanistan as Washington considers deploying up to 5,000 extra troops to help local forces fighting insurgent groups.

Trump said he wanted to "thank the Indian people" for their contribution to helping development in Afghanistan.

Modi in turn said India "would maintain close consultation and communication with the US" to achieve the joint goal of "peace and stability".
India frequently accuses its arch rival Pakistan of stirring up violence in Afghanistan and harboring militant groups.
