Central skill development scheme helps 8,000 Kashmiri youth land lucrative jobs - LATEST FROM PRIME MINISTER KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJNA

According to Union ministry data, more than half of those who found placements under the Udaan skill development scheme are from Kashmir.

More than 13,000 youth from Kashmir enrolled in Udaan.
2Over 8,000 of these Kashmiri youth have found placements under the scheme.
3Several trainees come from Valley's terror-hit districts, officials say.

Contrary to the images of stone-pelting mobs creating "perennial unrest" in Kashmir, here is a nugget of hope. In the last two years, over 13,000 youth from the Valley have enrolled in a Central skill development initiative, Udaan, and more than 8,000 found placements after training in sectors ranging from tourism and hospitality to information technology, aviation, logistics and apparel.
According to official figures (up to March 2017) with the Union ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship, of the 22,237 youth from Jammu and Kashmir who received training under Udaan, 13,203 have been from the Valley. And of the 14,694 who were recruited by various PSUs, multinationals and corporate groups countrywide, 8,248 are from Kashmir.
"The number of placements could have been higher, even 100 per cent, but political instability in the Valley is not allowing industries to come up locally," Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy told Mail Today. "Girls do not prefer to go out of the Valley for work; hence their employment options are limited. But we are trying to help the maximum find suitable placement as this is Prime Minister Modi's special thrust programme to bring Valley's youth into the mainstream."

Rudy said the ministry's initiative listed nearly 84 corporate groups, PSUs and MNCs as recruiters while "another 48 potential entities have showed interest in the next phase of Udaan". There are 32 streams of the training programme, ranging from six-month terms to one year.
The training is held in 26 cities across the country and the placement can secure a recruit monthly income from Rs 15,000 to Rs 70,000.
"A rare case among those who found employment is Aamer Shah, who was trained as an ethical hacker and is now employed with a Sweden-based software firm, earning Rs 13 lakh per annum," a senior official from the ministry said. "Other cases in point are Srinagar-based Adnan A Bhat, who was trained by Bajaj Allianz in marketing, and is earning a monthly salary of Rs 70,000; and Md Iqbal, who was trained by Rooman Technologies and is placed in Microsoft, where he earns over Rs 65,000 a month."
The official said students often disclosed that they used to earn Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 a month in seasonal stone-pelting but the payments were dodgy and irregular. "In contrast, the skills and training given by Udaan are fetching them respectable income and social status," the official said, adding that many of the trainees came from terror-hit districts of Shopian, Baramullah, Kupwara and Pulwama.
"Although the initiative was launched in 2011 under the UPA rule, it got real impetus after the NDA came to power. While barely 2,000 had enrolled and trained up to 2014, in the first 30 months of the Modi government, the enrollments swelled to 23,000," pointed out the official. The cost to train and eventually find placement for one person has come to about Rs 1.84 lakh. "But the cost must be seen not in economic terms but its social and political background," the official said.
Manish Kumar, MD and CEO of National Skills Development Corporation, said, "We are targeting school students from classes 9 to 12 and have tied up with nearly 350 schools to put their talent to constructive use... We have allocated Rs 73 crore to train 45,000 Kashmiri youth by 2020 under the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojna."

Centre To Cut 25 Percent Govt Jobs - SEE FULL DETAILS HERE

New Delhi: Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) sources verified on condition of anonymity that 25 percent full-time central government jobs will be cut.

It is an attempt to improve the country’s financial health system, the sources added that the job cuts are needed to sustain the government’s expenditure.

“The reality is that we are not as efficient in managing our system as other developed countries are,” sources said.

The sources also stated that over the last few years, Pay, Allowances and Pension (PAP) spending constitutes around 3.6 per cent of GDP.

The sources also noted that voluntary redundancies would be offered central government employees who having put in 20 years service or above 55 years.

More than other jobs are expected to go of the central government employees, whose performance is not upto the mark. Overall, the centre will lay off 25 percent full-time central government jobs.

The central government employees unions said they will strongly oppose any government jobs cut scheme, if it is announced.

They claim the job cuts would mean the central government employees are forced to bear the impact of the country’s financial problems. The unions leaders add that budget cuts on Pay, Allowances and Pension would also lead to suffer government smooth business and public service.

However, the sources acknowledged that the central government employees are well paid but the government needs to be more transparent in decisions regarding jobs in the central government department and ministry as the government employees from junior staff to top bureaucrats are not so talent.

So, the government committed to appoint best available talent from out side on the recommendation of the Niti Aayog and the government is mulling to appoint one-fifth of the 25 percent full-time central government jobs cut staff from out side in its departments and ministries.

The central government salaries accounts Rs 128,000 crore in 2017-18 of the nation expenditure. The sources claimed that without making significant changes in salaries costs, this would affect other areas including education, health care and infrastructure.

It is not one single person who makes that address, but it is the collective voice of 1.25 billion of my countrymen that resounds from the Red Fort.”

It received an overwhelming response from the public. Through specially-created open forums “Narendra Modi App” and “MyGov” portal, thousands of comments and views are pouring in for the address, the sources said.

Modi, a believer in participative governance, regularly invites people to share their opinions and views on various subjects and incorporates people’s suggestions in his speeches.

AP cities lag behind Tier-II capitals on GDP in a big way

Amaravati: Major cities in Andhra Pradesh, including those in the capital region, contribute only 25% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state - a far cry from cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore that contribute 70% and 61% to the GDPs of their states respectively.
An internal analysis of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) says Vijayawada and Guntur, which fall under the capital region, contribute only 5% each to the state.

CRDA conducted this analysis to assert the needs of the new capital that can contribute to the economic growth of the state. 90,000 skill corporation-trained youth got jobs, says official

Aim is to encourage youth to ideate, plan and innovate

The purpose of setting up the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) was to help people gain employable skills and the Corporation, in a short span, had achieved 34% success, said K.V. Satyanarayana, CEO, on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a day-long workshop on Entrepreneurship Educators’ Bootcamp, where students of various colleges were given insights into key aspects of entrepreneurship, Mr. Satyanarayana said 90,000 of the 3.5 lakh candidates trained by the Corporation had gained employment.

He said realising that the youth in the State were losing employment opportunities mainly due to lack of adequate exposure, the government had formed the Skill Development Corporation to impart training to students by roping in international experts to ensure quality teaching-learning process.

He said the Corporation was imparting a six-month skill development course for regular students in both engineering and non-engineering streams. Those opting for this course would be better equipped to face competition in the job market, he said, adding that students of schools and colleges were benefited by the training sessions organised by the Corporation. Prof. Gregory Collier and Krish Nangegadda of Northeastern University, U.S., conducted a session on ‘business model’ and expected outcome of such programmes followed by a question-and-answer session wherein the participants sought clarifications to their myriad doubts.

Sessions on “Designing the Venture’ and ‘Design Thinking for Entrepreneurs’ were conducted by Marc Mayer through video conference.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the endeavour of the APSSDC was to inculcate a new thinking among the youth who would be encouraged to ideate, plan and innovate.

He said the government was eager to usher in a climate of a healthy entrepreneurship not just in cities but also in the rural pockets through start-ups.

APSSDC Special Secretary Ganta Subbarao said the workshops would help raise awareness among the student community. The Corporation, in tie-up with international organisations, was trying to familiarise the youth with the world trends and the latter should make the best of it, he said.
